All,
It sounds like we have settled on Saturday 6/15 (4:15 pm start vs. Seattle, also Beerfest) for a combo FK-Gate and Suite Day.
FSU EDIT: If you want to buy in for tickets with the group, please RSVP in the comments and say how many you want by Wednesday May 1. Price and location of those seats (in the suite or in a nearby section for ease of upgrading) remains to be determined. We’ll do general tailgate RSVPs and food planning later, but if you want tickets with the group, say so soon!
FSU – feel free to edit in any details you want out now about the FK-Gate piece.
As for the Suite segment, this year the suite is not free. Instead, the pricing works as follows:
First 18 tickets cost $200 ($11.11 each).
A la carte tickets cost $35 each. Ability to FSU from normal tickets is unknown, as they may have people checking.
For another $545, we can add six tickets and a set food menu (peanuts/popcorn/caesar salad/dogs/nachos/soda). I suspect we do not want to do this, since we’ll have just feasted on the best the BAG has to offer.
The first 18 tickets definitely have a priority for the FKing Season Ticket group members, but I don’t yet know whether they’ll all be claimed. Mrs. N and I will take two of ’em (and bring Yoenessa to the festivities). I’m not sure what the fairest way is to divy up the 18 cheap tickets, but one thing that makes sense to me is that if the ST group wants more than 18, we can add $35 tickets and spread the total cost evenly. Last year, we didn’t get to 18, so no idea if that will be a problem.
So, let me know if you want tix (and how many). Once I have enough commitments, I’ll lock us in to the suite.
I’m in for three tix, me plus two kids.
For ticket buying/planning purposes, an RSVP deadline would be a good. Maybe end of the day Wednesday May 1? People can and will continue to RSVP after that, and that’s fine, but come the end of May Day we can total the number of people interested in Suite seats and come out with a per-ticket price which folks can then paypal. From each according to a mathematical formula, to each according to the US mail. Some time maybe 2-3 weeks after that we can make a final tally of additional non-Suite seats folks might want, and if demand is sufficient I can buy a block of tix (and if it’s not folks can fend for themselves).
One thought: if we get the same kind of Mount Davis outfield suite, a real good place for the spillover would be the Plaza Reserved seats directly in front of the suite windows.
We could literally spill over onto them.
Let ’em eat microbrews!
makes sense to me.
I’m in for one.
want two!
I wouldn’t mind attending.
Thanks, and go As.
uno.
I already have tickets for this day, so anyone is welcome to my FK ST slot priority if there is such a thing. See you lovelies in Lot A!
I love that it’s becoming an annual tradition to have FK tailgate on beer fest day. Our own FK brew fest is even better than the one inside.
That’s right, this’ll be the third straight year of that overlap.
Fancy BevMo beers for sharing are in my plans
I would like 3, but if it soesn’t work out that we can bring childrens I am ok with 1.
Looks like I have the front rowsies that day, so I guess I’m out on the suite.
I’d be in for 2-3 if they become available.
Confirmed for 3 if possible.
I’d like two, please — and will actually attend this time, I swear, depressed or not (unless someone at home needs me too much and I can’t arrange a substitute).
On an unrelated note: Does anyone want my tix for this Tuesday night (4/29)? Freebs.
Poppy! I’ve been hoping you’d show back up soon!
If you mean Tuesday 4/30 (not Mon 4/29), I’d take them, and see if any of the rest of these FKers can join me.
Yes, I mean 4/30… sorry, no calendars in the hermit cave. I can do email transfer of both to you, or one to you and one to whoever wants to join you (not sure if you would be able to forward or re-transfer one if I transferred them both to you)…
I have emailed you.
Are you sure?
Oops, now I am!
Ah, there you are… {wanders off to read email}
Hi Poppy. [Thoughts and prayers going out to you.]
Well, those are always welcome… but don’t worry, the current externally-applied overload will abate (somewhat) soon. :)
Remember to RSVP by the end of the day Weds 5/1 if you want tickets with the group!
Remindering.
rereminding and did I say three?
BTW… finally got your paper tix in the mail.
cool. I just set a trial for the time of the second set, so I may need your help switching them
We can cross that bridge whenever you want, but minimum 48 hours in advance.
It’ll be a bit of a pain since I now don’t have the paper tix.
Ed may well be able to do it himself from his A’s account after entering the ticket IDs to identify them as his.
Maybe. I think it’s a season ticket ability, but I have no idea.
I’m in for 2 tickets.
Alas.
NNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOoooooooooooooooo ooooooooooooooooo oooooooooo oh.
:P~~~~~~~~~
If the suite isn’t full of ST FKers, we’ll be in for 2. If that doesn’t work we’re happy to get two regulars and participate in the tailgate.
↑
What he said. Not part of the season ticket group, in for two if any cheap ones are unclaimed (which my rough count suggests is not the case), will sit elsewhere otherwise.
I’d take one, even at the $35 rate, if there is one. Otherwise I’ll see y’all at the tailgate.
So by my count:
Me 2 tix
FSU 3
DFA 2
Ed 3
Poppy 2
Vignette 2
ST Total: 14
MikeV 1
SSlinger 2
EM 2
Andy 2
Dial C 1
AV 1
PTBNL 3
Remainder total: 12
I’m not sure what the fairest way is to resolve, as we definitely want to sell at least 4 ST holder tickets. If we just did all of these and split the cost evenly, that would increase the ticket costs from $11 to $20/ticket. If we are not going to do that, I guess the fairest thing would be to do a lottery for the discounted ones. The structure would be to give each person one entry, randomize the order, and then filter down (if PTBNL is in #1 spot, then 4th ticket goes to highest-ranked singleton, if a non-singleton lands #1, PTBNL gets nothing even if he’s #2).
Open to suggestions.
I have no opinion. if itd $20 per for me OK, or if its $11, fine.
I’m happy to pay a higher cost for my kids tickets. But overall my preference would be to average it all out and just have one ticket, one price.
Ah, I get it. yeah, my preference would be to average, but I’ll pitch in extra for the kids if necessary.
Fine with me too, but if other ST people disagree I’m not sure it works.
That’s EM 1.
Thanks. Odd that the total is right given that.
I can give up my two rather than drive up from LA.
You should be here for this day, though.
come on, you can come back for suite day!
I’ve got a free Southwest flight voucher that’s going to expire before I use it … Burbank/Oakland a dozen times a day.
Any objection to even split of costs? If none by friday morning I’ll call in the order.
If you don’t want the tix you asked for above at $20/each, please post by Friday so I don’t over-order.
Just making sure there are no changes.
Over-ordering seems unlikely anyway, we’ll probably have more takers come gameday.
Just (finally) locked this in. The only challenge is that they would only sell 24 tickets, and we had 25 requested above. I suspect that will resolve itself one way or another, but I’m open to suggestions about how best to do it.
In any event, the total is $410, split 24 ways comes to $17/ticket.
Thanks nevermoor! Do we know the suite number or general location (bleachers versus foul territory)? Also, should we start PayPalling you?
Sometime next week I’ll put up a post reminding folks about FK Day event, seeing if there’s enough non-suite ticket interest to be worth me coordinating a group buy, and generally building up excitement.
Mt. Davis, right field side.
And feel free to paypal. If I get 25 tix worth, and someone no-shows, I’ll refund.
Just please paypal as a GIFT (and not using a credit card) so that I don’t eat a transaction fee.
Sent for 3.
Got it, thanks.
What’s the paypal info? Also, I never use paypal, so what does “not pay by credit card” mean? There’s another way to pay?
my screenname at gmail.
People who setup paypal accounts link their bank account (so they can convert what they take in to usable cash). Making “gifts” from your bank account is free for all involved. Using a credit card means that paypal takes a fee from my end.
I just paypalled you….using my credit card, but it said it was going to charge the fee to me, not you. If it’s lying, let me know!
Came through perfectly. Thanks.
And if you get 25 tix worth and everyone shows?
Lottery. Start gathering rocks.
We FSU the 25th man.
i release.
Sad. With this many people I sort of suspect something will come up closer to the event date and we’ll wind up with extras.
In each of my previous centralized FK ticket buying experiences I’ve expected this also, but in both cases 100% of the tickets were paid for and used by the people who RSVP’d for ’em.
Which reminds me that I need to Paypal you for my three, will do so at home tonight.
Thanks.
Just a quick note to let you all know the tickets are in hand. Paypal now or cash at the game both work fine.
If paypal, please use a method other than credit card and label it a gift (so the site does it w/o fees for anyone)
If you don’t mind I will come cash in hand day of. Thanks so much for organizing!
Likewise, thank you.
Same. I’m having some trouble with paypal, so this would be much easier.
I suspect FSU has the harder organizing job.
Huh, what? Nah…put up a post, show up with a van, eat drink and be merry. Piece of cake.
there is cake?
I dunno. I make one phone call to the A’s, they mail me tickets. I exchange ’em for kneecaps.
there are night caps?
So, $17 each? (and I’m still in for two)
Yes please.
Sent! As “I’m sending money to family or friends!” From my bank account! (not credit card, which was canceled anyway when Mr. Poppy was pickpocketed a couple of weeks ago, this reminds me I need to update PayPal account with new card number)
Got it w/$0 fees! Thanks!
I may be a +1 now, but I might just get regular tickets and then tailgate with you FKers.
Thanks, and go As.
I’ll put up a tailgate planning post later this week, to get a head count and generally get everyone excited for FK Day 3: Judgement Day.
This time there really will be ginny plum crumble – honest!
Judgement day: Kraut with me if you want to live…
Okay, nm. Late to the party but now that the calendar has turned to the month of June I can inquire:
Is there a single suite ticket available for moi? If so, I can PayPal you ($17?). If not, I’ll get a ticket on my own unless any FKers have an extra they want to sell/give away–in which case, I’ll settle up on FK day.
We may end up not being able to make it. Hope to figure it out in the next couple of days.
Well, I hope you can make it.
As of now they are all spoken for by the original list minus AV (and with one for EM).
Okay, thanks!
If you want to take the one I spoke for (I haven’t paid for it yet) that’s cool…..I will come visit in the suite, or take the next suite seat that becomes available.
Some friends decided to get married with < 2 weeks notice (a "very small official ceremony" with 80 people invited). Ceremony at 3, perfectly timed to realistically preclude both the game and the tailgate. So I'm hoping EM will be back in for one of my tickets, maybe AV or mikeV's prospective +1 or someone else will claim the second. If not I'll pay for the ticket(s) of course, nm knows where to find me and has probably harvested my credit card number anyway.
Tailgate wedding!
(sounds more like shotgun to me)
I think that show airs at 11 pm on TLC.
The groom is our other Cambridge-grad (but not like other Cambridge grads) beer-brewing Berkeley scientist friend.
(no comment on Soaker’s comment)
In that case, value-deck wedding!
That’s what I would do.
Let me check on the +1…
Thanks, and go As.
Looks like +1 is out — stupid work.
Thanks, and go As.
I am sure we’ll find a taker, but should nevermoor find come June 13-14 that there’s still one or more loose ones, I’d be happy to take ownership and recruit a fellow traveller.
I will buy your ticket, if still available.
I’m so confused.
Whom do I pay, how much and by what method?
Me, $17, preferred is paypal (but as a gift not using your CC so that there are no fees)
Paypaled you and paid the fee myself. Thanks, nm!
Got it, thanks!
Sounds like Ice Cream could use one of these, EM keeps her seat, and FSU uses the other.
Unless I’m missing something.
I’d prefer that a FKer get the one I referenced; I’ll just be the fall back plan (let one of my kids bring a friend or somesuch).
Thanks guys. Sorry to be missing all the fun, all the beer, the rare Soaker appearance, etc.
Well, my vibrant personality will grace the Coliseum again a few weeks later when Korach does his book-reading event. The date hasn’t been announced; my best guess is during that long homestand at the end of July.
Sounds good!
Do we have any other FKers who want that last available suite ticket? If no one claims it by tomorrow AM I’ll claim it, pay for it, and tell my kids they can recruit a friend to come with us.
Me please. Another buddy of mine is going to the game now.
Thanks, and go As.
Fine by me, reimbursement due to nevermoor.
I will have $ Saturday.
Thanks, and go As.
Great.
as will I.
all singles
Make it rain!
Don’t forget to wear your g-string.
I don’t think “rain” is the right word for what that would achieve
Why aren’t they playing Rickie Weeks? The A’s seem to have gotten him back on track.
Um yeah, this is in the wrong post.
This means you have to attend on June 15! Excellent!
I really wish I could. But like DFA, I recently started a new job in a new city (Seattle).
NICE! I love Seattle. You will too.*
*I have never met you and have no idea what you would like
I like it a lot so far! I brought a bike so the bikeability is great. The weather has been all sunshine recently and I’ve been told not to take it for granted. I live around the UW district right now and I’m looking to move to the Capitol Hill/First Hill area in a couple of months after my lease ends. Any recs for other neighborhoods?
I lived in Cap hill and Queen Anne. I much preferred Capitol hill. I biked to work downtown when I didn’t take the bus. I have friends in the CD, I think Pam lives in Fremont or Wallingford.
If you work in the u-district north of the channel is always good, but the back side of Capitol Hill is fine too. if you work downtown, go for your first two ideas
if you drink coffee, my rec is Vivace on Broadway (i went to the cart, but the store is fine too). the cart is by Chase bank. (At least I assume its a chase, since it was WaMu when I lived there).
I hope your rent budget is generous.
naturally. But it pales compared to…
I heard the Amazon folks really pushed everything up lately but from what I’ve seen on Craigslist, just renting a room is reasonable which is what I usually do anyways.
Did a great job on getting a better city with your offer than I
Fuck Yoenis, this is baseball not football…
Why the hell did Jaso go for that?
I have not paypalled. Can I bring 20 bucks day of?
Thanks, and go As.
I created a Facebook event page for this tailgate…. https://www.facebook.com/events/195748633913803/
