I have a radio on a small table next to my chair in the living room. My cat likes to jump up on the back of the chair, then sit on top of the radio and gradually insinuate herself onto my lap. Â I have no idea why she does this instead of jumping onto my lap, but she does. Â Because the buttons are on the top of this radio, she sometimes inadvertently turns it on or off or changes from FM to AM in the course of doing this.
Today I sat down and turned on the radio and she jumped onto the back of the chair. Â The radio said “Hello, I’m Guy Haberman” and she looked at me and jumped on the radio and turned it off.

According to Slusser, Conner Crumbliss drove 10 1/2 hours from Phoenix to be at this game, and he idolizes Eric Sogard.
Also lots of intrigue about the final bullpen slots in there.
And he’s never been to the Bay Area before. That’s sweet.
I guess he doesn’t count the trips from Stockton to play San Jose?
#notthebayarea
Lies.
That’s awesome!
“He’s nervous because he’s around Eric Sogardâ€
Also says he will get some ABs in this series. Also, Crumbliss! If he ever gets to Oakland we should make him a crumb cake.
Or crumbless cakes.
Gotta do my final spring training. Ok, situational…we need a rally..I post this:
Don’t mind if I do.
First time this year I get to watch a game. I’ve been told to expect beards.
Ok, Reddick looks like he lives under a bridge and solicits billy goats.
Ha!…good one.
I fully expect him to walk around the dugout talking with a baseball named Rawlings in his hand.
MADE TIMMEH DUCK!
Timmeh is almost starting to look like a grown-up.
Well, he was better when he looked like a 12 year old.
timmeh looks pretty funny
Yeah, it’s really different, he looks even younger if that’s possible.
May be hope for him if he can keep the velocity at 92mph.
yeah thats back where he was two years ago.
Wow, the radio is way ahead of the TV.
Hmm…makes you wonder how far ahead the telegraph is on the game.
[Checks] A’s win 5 – 2.
Anything we can do now to prevent that upcoming 5th inning injury to Coco?
[Checks again] That a negative. Though they’re only calling it hour to hour. That’s got to be better than day to day… right?
I thought Strailey was starting?
The players must be so sick of games that don’t count at this point…spring training goes on way too long.
But both the A’s and Giants players love these several days when they can play meaningless games while they’re settling into their regular-season housing, which AFAIK for the A’s is 100% rentals. Some teams like the Mariners stay in Arizona, then play a final game or two in a minor league park (looks like Salt Lake City in their case), then open with 7 games on the road, and have no off days when they finally arrive in Seattle.
Interesting. I never thought of that.
I seem to recall hearing that about Seattle in prior years too, it might be their standard MO. Which the players must just hate.
I know I am.
I can’t wait for Monday but watching exhibition games, no matter the sport, doesn’t do much for me…if I want to watch meaningless games I’ll watch KU football.
Yup. I’ve followed very little of Spring Training. It’s just agonizingly boring.
Agreed. If I can’t be there in person, I have trouble getting into it.
I feel the same way about sex.
i disagree
The internet agrees with DFA.
“Never, ever, try and make me feel better by saying DFA is right.” – The internet
#llamad
?
DFA agrees with this.
I don’t know why Ken thinks it’s a sellout, I see all kinds of empty seats.
Yeah, surprising actually.
The late arriving crowd may be my fault.
You see I was at the Caltrain station in san jose at 550. there was about 10 to 15 people in giants gear asking what train they should get on. A station attendant told the the next train was at 605, which was true, but it is a limited. it stops at south city or bayshore and waits for the next train, the 623, an express, to pass it.
I said nothing.
Moral of the story…everything is Ed’s fault.
likely
Regardless of their arrival time… how FKing stupid do you have to be to not know how to get from SJ to SF on Caltrain?
Moi
They must either be Giants fans or elcroata.
Actually, I bet if EC were at Diridon Station, he’d be able to read the train schedule and figure out quite easily how to get to SF. Your typical Panda-head, however, …
Step one: board next train
Step two: tell conductor who he isStep three: tell conductor where he is goingStep four: get off when train arrives
So, you think conductors do not already know who I am?
Fixed that for you. Let’s be honest. The moment you get on the train it just knows exactly where you’re going and gets going with no additional stops.
Step five: listen to conductor apologize to other passengers about the side trip to San Diego, but, hey, what ec wants, ec gets.
Step six: Run quickly now that passengers realize whose presence they are in.
The train station and the tracks are temporarily moved to get EC to the doorstep of where he is going.
You’re awesome.
That was a sweet play by Moss.
When did Gaudin join the Giants?
I’ll go look it up using my telegraph.
In game interviews are bad enough but when they’re of Giants players…
It’s like poetry when Ken says “309 down the right field line,” ain’t it? Can’t ever get enough of A’s on the radio, even if it is a full 3 innings ahead of the TV broadcast.
We need to clone Ken…I just wish the number two guy wasn’t so…number twoish.
Nice AB by Donaldson.
I guess all those stomach crunches worked.
Does John Jaso look like Travis Buck or what?
If I remembered who Travis Buck was I’d answer the question.
He could play D’Artagnan on stage.
For everybody who is coming to the game on Saturday in Oakland..Just be aware that there are over 32,000 tickets sold, expect big crowds! I was at ticket services yesterday and they said to not be surprised if it sells out when all is said and done!
Well, I was going to come but I hate big crowds…I’ll wait until we play the Astros.
I was just talking to lil Miss Aces about what game she wants to go to this year. She said she wants to go to a game where she can take a broom. So it looks like a Sunday against the Astros…
I think the first sporting event I ever take Little Miss Arkansas to will probably be a baseball game…it’s usually a nice environment for kids.
That’s awesome. Hope it’s like that for the entire opening series.
Great news! It felt good to see such long lines at the ticket window during fanfest.
It feels like a lot of people suddenly realized last September/October that going to A’s games at the Coliseum is really fun.
I have to admit, I was getting kind of pissy at how crowded it was starting to get, hopefully they will have more concession stands open this year.
I will miss the 3,000 games.
The concession stands were a big problem last year, even on run-of-the-mill Sunday games in May. They need to plan better, if for no other reason than to increase sales.
this.
indeed
thirded
I’ve been told that the A’s have more direct control over the concession operations than almost every other team that does not own its own ballpark.
its as if they are trying to convince me that they cannot serve me a hot dog without a 7 inning wait if they do not get a new stadium.
Me too. Unabashedly selfish about that. Although, the energy is amazing when the Coliseum is full.
There will still be plenty of sparsely attended game.
If the A’s continue to put an interesting and successful team on the field they can draw.
Perfect timing to face a pitcher.
Wow, that was a great play, poor Keebs.
Conner Crumbliss still loves him.
Heh!
and all my posts on the matter are in the wrong thread
Read the right thread DFA.
Announcer: The hardest part of our job is putting on pants.
Vince just said that Hunter Pence has a wide stance.
Here’s to dancing with bowlegged outfielders.
Him and Larry Craig.
I guess Timmeh’s ok now.
Awww, did I speak too soon?
Hes a lumberjack and hes ok he drinks all night and he works all day
There we go!!!!
I think he broke the Coke bottle.
Splash!
Yoenessa is pleased with that development
Hes going to have a monster year.
I hope so, he looks much more comfortable, and from what I’ve seen this spring pitchers are afraid.
If the A’s gave him a 7 year extension (so basically a 10 year contract) tomorrow, I wouldn’t be upset.
I said that they should have either went longer with more money or not at all. I think longer with more money was the answer.
I think, judging from he recent legal troubles, less time and money was more important to him
ahahaha
I love how blatantly he watches those.
If he wasn’t on my team I would hate it.
When they’re that pretty, you’ve got to watch. It would be a shame for him to be the only one who misses it.
It’s pretty common nowadays, but I hear ya.
its also the norm in Cuba
I didn’t see this, just got home, but Cespedes’ particular style of watching his homers can be pretty far over the line of the convention among players, looks to me.
LA POTENCIA!
So close josh!
WHAT’S THE MATTER WITH TIMMEH!!
A’s have had a lot of fight in them this spring, SO AMPED FOR MONDAY!!!!
Ah, Giants… when your ad agency STILL sucks ass and can’t come up with original commercials, rip off a clip our DiamondVision folks have been using in-game for years.
How does Brandon Crawford get his hair so greasy?
Without the beard dragging him down, Reddick catches that.
HAHAHAHA
WHATS THE MATTER WITH TIMMEH?!?
And the defense, heh.
I really hope Keebs makes the team.
He will. I bet he starts on Monday against Felix.
I really hope Keebs’s hot spring wasn’t because of a bunch of those.
he hit the ball hard in his first ab for an out
WOOOOHOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!
Why are those Giants fans grinning and high-fiving because they got Reddick’s home run ball?
Because it’s cool to catch a ball.
Yup. If I’m ever lucky enough to catch a big league ball I’ll smile and high five, almost regardless of the situation.
Well, if a ball is coming my way I’m moving out of the way but it is cool to catch a ball…it’s just that I’m a coward.
Helluva shot, Cletus! I think the beard earns Reddick the name Cletus.
I’ve had just about enough of the parade shots you insufferable a-holes.
They’re showing the parade because they’re losing.
Well they have to find something to show other than the A’s scoring runs.
[ chuckle ]
and that is how its done
Nice slide.
Oh that was lovely.
Has Posey always been this bad behind the plate?
scott cousins didn’t want you to know
http://www.hardballtimes.com/main/article/another-one-bites-the-dust/
“Nice play, Keebs.
Nice one Keebs!
Spec-tacular.
asvd
Eric seems to really really want to be the lefthanded option
Do we really need to know how many pitches a reliever has thrown? Seems like needless score box clutter.
All I want in the box score is their VORP.
Spring training VORP. That would be best.
why did they show a guy wearing a swisher shirsy?
So someone would comment about it on an A’s related blog.
check and mate comcast
You always crack me up, Ed.
It seems to be spring training for the gulls too
They were really aggressive at the WBC. They wanted us out of the bleachers.
I’m worried that the gulls have finally realized just how much they can intimidate us with their screeches beaks and feces. I’d fold in a second, I hate those things.
You’re not alone in that. There’s group cowardice in numbers.
Bring a brace of hawks.
Wow they’re really letting Jordan work through this one huh…
I’m happy for that kid, but what a cheap fking double!
And we’ve reached the Bill King fart stories portion of the broadcast.
Along with the seagull poop jokes. Thankfully, it ends.
Victory!
Woohoo, gonna love going to work tomorrow! #toomanygintsfanstalkingsmack
