Giambi at the plate 1-0 CLevelands after a Nakajima started DP. there were some walks in there and an error I think.
Giambi lines out
Crisp lowrie reddick 1-2-3
Masterson gets the next three. K for Nakajima
A few weeks ago we got new monitors at work, and they gave everyone two, a wide-screen one and a square one. I thought this was silly and affected. Maybe the few people who are doing active web design need all that real estate, but for most of us it’s just desktop clutter.
Until today! Now I have Gameday on one screen and the game thread, and some actual work, on the other.
How terribly not symmetrical.
I have two widescreen monitors. It took a bit to get used to the break in the middle of my vision but I really like it.
Thanks, and go As.
I am back and its 3-0.
Don’t know why
Michael Taylor Ks for 4 time in 6 ABs.
Jimenez and Masterson have been perfect through 3

Okajima in.
giambi walks, double. one out
josh donaldson maade a nice play
How did Lowrie hit a pop-up to SS and then try to stretch it into a double?
give him a break, he thought it was far enough to hit the crawford boxes or the green monster
so hits and baserunners but no score. Cespedes out Green in.
Sonny
GreyGrayfly out ground out single flyout
Choice in center
hit for donaldson
That is not an attractive picture of Jason Giambi on Gameday.
It amazes me that a guy who was too washed up for the 2009 A’s is still getting work.
And Matt “The Splat” Carson hit a 2-run homer — well, it’s spring.
bummer. For a minute there I thought he was still with the A’s.
He did leave a lasting impression (in the wall).
Bad defense by weeks.
Matt Carson HR off Gray.
5-0 Clevelands
Shane peterson HR with Choice aboard off Matt Capps. 5-2 Clevelands
Has Choice done anything today? From what I’ve gathered he’s looked impressive so far. So much so that he’s starting tomorrow.
Well he did make a very important decision.
I took off, but according to twitter, he homered
Barton with a single. 3-3 for the spring.
OBP! OBP! O-B-P!!!
yeah, you know d.
Yan gomes HR off Noberto. Jordan does not seem to have it today.
I hope he can get a refund from the doc in Miami.
Choice homer.
Oh, for the the love of…
Yay?
His head is only 75% detached. He’ll be fine!
Rub some dirt on it!
Glancing at the box score, due to the WBC-elongated spring training we are wading through the depths of the organization’s pitching even more than usual. In an ordinary spring a Granier, who has never been above the Midwest League, would never see any action with the big club except perhaps on a split-squad day when the Chip Hales need a couple of #92s.
on the other hand…offense?
Griffin with 2 Ks in first
Thingle
I see that one Eric Chavez is playing.
This local announcer mentions that the day last week it snowed in Scottsdale, apparently Talking Stick got dumped on but the A’s facility at Papago Park missed the snow. So in exchange for the D’Backs use of the A’s practice fields that day, Billy negotiates that the A’s will be allowed to use the DH both times the A’s play Arizona at Talking Stick.
As I mentioned a couple years ago Talking Stick is my least-favorite Cactus League venue because it’s too big-league, too much like going to Warrantless Wiretap. The A’s play one game there vs. the Rockies when I’m on my trip, this Sunday which is the same day as the NASCAR race in town, and that’s why there’s still an outside chance I’ll opt for NASCAR.
odd seeing as the Diamondbacks have an att park in, uh, Phoenix
Despite my total disdain for the WBC I do plan on going to a Mexico vs. USA night game at Chase Field, just to see the ballpark, which I’ve never been to. And unless the interleague schedule ever puts the A’s in Phoenix in April, I wouldn’t ever get a chance to go there, because why the hell would you visit Phoenix from May through September?
I looked into tickets at warrantless wiretap. cheapest $250. Why would I take my children to such a great event to take children to for MINIMUM $250?
For the WBC?!?! Ouch! That isn’t the World Series, you imbeciles. The Chase Field WBC tickets were something like $30 for field level, probably quite a bit less than the D’Backs regular-season price for those seats.
I think it gets you a weekend pass, but still.
Oh, I see, when the Chase Field games went on sale they were initially “strips” for all the games being played there, 6 or whatever. Then later single-game tickets went on sale. You probably should follow up and see if you can buy tickets for just one game now.
Two of the Arizona games (Italy/Mexico and Canada/Italy) are actually being played at Talking Stick.
The A’s have a split-squad day next week with a game at Phoenix Muni vs. Italy. Ooh, I would get to see Chris Denorfia! No thanks, I will be making the drive over to Surprise that day to see the Chip Hales vs. the Kansas City Royals.
Someday, when I’m enhanced with Google Contact Lenses and Implanted Bluetooth and SamINDREADERsung and can get shit done while I drive and watch games, I’m totally gonna do spring training.
The WBC website is showing tickets to the semifinal starting at $47. Still really pricey. I can’t believe demand for those games will be that high.
yeah, not gonna do that
Once they find out that the USGiants are not in the final, there’ll probably be a lot of cheap tickets on StubHub.
Reddick OF assist throwing behind a runner who had been at 2nd and bluffed to third on the catch
Norris HR
Ek stricks out Shavez.
(mike Ekstrom, an A’s pitcher)
With a suitable demonstrative fist pump, one hopes.
Cliffy P. HOME RUN!!! Oops…
Today was the day for my annual spring tradition of being shocked that Mark Kotsay is still in one piece and playing baseball.
Heh, me too. Over the past 7 seasons, Kotsay has played for 6 teams, made about $27 Million (most of it from his last Oakland contract), and been worth a cumulative 1 win below replacement value. And apparently SD extended his contract midseason so they would be sure not to lose him to free agency.
I frickin love Jamie Kotsay though.
Thanks, and go As.
Fixed that for you.
