Huh. When I asked the Magic 8 Ball if I wanted to see Jennifer naked, it says “Yes.” When I asked the Magic 8 Ball if I’d like it, it says “No way!” I shit you not.
There were a number of totally full sections, but it was kinda weird where they were. In person, didn’t look too bad a crowd, considering some recent ones.

it’s sometimes hard to read and you overreact and get off the freeway because it looks terrible but later look across and find out that it was just a massive sight-of-break-lights-induced slowdown that dissipates after the next overpass hill, but the view of 880 from just before the jackson street exit can be your friend. when it’s really bad it’s obvious, and you can bail at jackson, cross under freeway, left on 7th st., becomes 8th st., becomes 12th st., becomes san leandro, turn at 50th, turn at coliseum way, WHAM.

i wanna know the WAR on his pinkeyes. no seriously, of all those 1-run games the A’s just got shorted on, how many does he affect the right way if he’s in?
*i’m* AV. alex vause. put this loon in psych before she hurts someone.
He was going to his first Giants game. His buddy told him to take BART and it’ll be a bit of a walk to the ball park. He got off BART, crossed the bridge, thought, gee this is a bit of a walk. He was so excited he couldn’t see or think of anything else but getting a ticket and getting in. He buys a ticket, doesn’t look at it, but instead of walks right into his seat. Finally starts looking around. Where’s the bay view? Where’s the spacious outfield? Where’s the Coke bottle? Gee, the seats look a lot closer to the field on TV. Why are there so many fans in A’s gear? It wasn’t until line ups were announced that he realized, he just might be here on the wrong night. He had missed the Giants game.
You know, whatever else happens this season, we’ve gotten to watch a legitimately good baseball team. They beat up on the bad teams and can hang with the good teams.

Last year wasn’t a pennant race; It was a fluke Tampa comeback that made the last couple of days interesting.

I think we’re arguing green apples vs. red apples.
2011 was awesome and improbable and magickal. (Dan Johnson and I are mojo BFF’s apparently. I’m sure others can say the same!)
1967 and 2012 are absolute AL top-heavy clusterFKs that can only be settled in the final days. Except 1967 was Highlander-style, whereas here we have eight teams fighting for three good spots and two dicey ones.
\"Weren\'t you already aware the Kay is already writing everyone\'s story? We\'re all just characters who believe we are real. Things make more sense now, don\'t they. Be honest.\"- DMOAS
The scenario where we and the Angels both win out, and the Angels and Texas have to play off to decide who travels for a wild card game in the Bronx is keeping me warm at night.
No, we also pass the Orioles for best record. We get the survivor of the LAA/TEX/NYY bloodbath, in which all of Weaver, Greinke, Sabathia, Pettite, Haren, Dempster, Holland, and Darvish get used.
I think it’s a bit of an accident that the team is this good.
I don’t think the A’s advance far in the playoffs with a staff full of rookies who have, for the most part, looked shaky lately.
But I really, really want them in the playoffs – as much as I ever remember, because it’s such a cool thing. It’s the unexpected fun and excitement of the playoff chase, of battling it out with teams that were supposed to be good, of caring about baseball at the end of September. And if this team makes the playoffs, they will have earned it.
It may be a crapshoot, but this year WE have the loaded dice.
\"Weren\'t you already aware the Kay is already writing everyone\'s story? We\'re all just characters who believe we are real. Things make more sense now, don\'t they. Be honest.\"- DMOAS
Pretty much agree, although I’m uncomfortable calling it an “accident” that the team is this good. It’s lucky, for sure, but it’s the kind of luck where a whole bunch of well intended talent-acquisition decisions over the course of several years all pay off at once. It balances out last year where a whole bunch of decisions went bust all at once.
I “met” Kyli in the parking lot as she arrived after apparently being stuck in traffic and getting there much later than she expected. When I saw what mode she was in I just got the heck out of the way and continued to enjoy my beer.
At the beginning of September I was expecting the division would take about 95 wins and the WC would take about 92 – 94 wins. In general, 90 wins should get you in, but it seemed clear that 90 this season wouldn’t do it.
That was so much fun I do believe I shall go again tomorrow.
As disappointing as the attendance was, the crowd was loud and lively throughout. Good vibe, lot of energy, lot of smiles. I’m hoping and thinking the walk-up sales will be brisk the next few days…get there early. And often.
Oh, also, the parking lot tent sale is in full swing. Didn’t check it out myself. Desmarestia scored herself an A’s logo cue ball.

i guess permission-wise yes, the old one, but mechanically speaking no, because both are manual. (you have to actively press the gas for forward motion in those old-fangled motorvehicular devices.)

Given the standings right now, would you feel better about securing a Wild Card spot by winning this weekend with the Rangers beating the Angels, leaving a sweep of the Rangers necessary to fulfill a miniscule chance of still winning the division, or would you rather have the Angels beat the Rangers enough that the A’s could win the division just by winning the series against Texas with there still being a chance the Angels could make it in while playing the Mariners?
Locking up a Wild Card spot at worst is nice, but I still want the division even if it includes the small chance of them ending up outside the playoffs at the end. They could be as close as one game behind the Rangers going into the final series and would tie by winning two of three.
Why not go for it all and let the cards fall where they may?
I’ll take the A’s, Angels and Rays winning 5, the Rangers and Yankees losing 5, and the Orioles winning 1.
So a 3-way tie playoff for the division and 2nd wildcard in the East, from which the Rays and Orioles emerge victorious, and a 2-way tie playoff for the 1st wildcard in the West, with whoever wins that losing the wildcard playoff game.
I think a better scenario for the A’s is Angels take 2-3 and the A’s sweep. That way they are two back of tx and need to sweep to win. plus the magic number against the angels would be 1.
playing 162, then 163 for the divisoin, then WC, then Division series seems like a tall order.
Winning the series wouldn’t be enough. If we & the Angels sweep our series, we’d be one game out. 2 out of 3 against Texas leads to a game 4 in Oakland that’s winner take all. But I still want the division as long as that’s possible.
I want our friends on the field to come out today confident and loose and ready to draw first blood, like they were last night.
I want Mr. Straily to feel good about himself and feel a nice flow with his mechanics. I’d like him to keep the ball down in the zone. High hangers are not his friend, even in the spacious Coliseum.
I’m sure the Star Trek writers stole this from one or a handful of ancient cultures, but I love how the Jem’Hadar would go into battle with the attitude that they had already been killed in battle, and were fighting to get their lives back. That’s some berzerker shit, and it’s a sublime fire to fuel on.

There was a pro-Prop 30 message on the scoreboard for about three minutes, at the end of the game. Very weird -,never saw anything like it. I was digging for my phone to take a picture when it disappeared.
you were on TV all in purple looking at your phone. much more flattering image than when they showed moss trying to scratch the back of his neck through his nostril.
*i’m* AV. alex vause. put this loon in psych before she hurts someone.
I also saw that, except I first read it as “PLAYERS support Prop 30” (instead of PLANNERS), and I thought having the players officially get behind a political issue was really weird.
There's a wild thing in the woolshed and it's keeping me awake at night.
coco at the o.co!
Today FSU stands for : FKing Sh!t Up
Say hi to the parking lot crew for me.
i thought FSU always stood for FSU since day 1…
Hmm… well, if Reddick is truly rebooted, I like this lineup.
So Homer Baily not quite perfect through 7.
Through 8.
One more.
And a No Hitter.
b-more’s gonna take it. angels up by 3 in the 4th. rays up by 1 in the 3rd. yankers up by 5 in the 6th.
only one thing to do… LET’S GO OAKLAND!
rays tied at 1 in the 3rd. nice sox.
For FSU… and great justice!
Lof you all.
scene update? mood, weather, neat costumes??
Bitch. Always stealing my thunder.
Hangin w Soaker in lot. See you inside.
Soaker? Not anymore.
Hardly knew ‘er.
Coco in the lineup, McCarthy in the dugout. Good omens abound.
Dempster out after 5.2 innings. 4-1 Angels.
I’ve got 1 more place to check out, but I think I’ve found my probable new home. it smells a little funny; but it’s a convenient location and it’s furnished. Moving day is likely to be Wednesday, which also happens to be our anniversary.
well… nice round number?
Yeah, I guess there’s that.
Congratudolences.
Thank you for both.
Yay. Boo. HI!
HI! How was your day today?
Pretty good. I’ve been in surgery with Dr. Tall, Dark, and Handsome the last two days. He’s pretty great. How is school?
It’s there. I’m way behind. No sleep for Ozz this weekend.
I took off AGAIN this weekend to get homework done. I’ve work 3 shifts this MONTH.
Ugh. I have to go check out an apartment tomorrow, then go video a wedding. I have to shoot for 5 projects. I have to sort photos from a school picture shoot we did a couple of weeks ago. And I have to pack.
I find you videoing weddings at this time to be slightly ironic.
Isn’t it? Oh well. I gotta eat.
You’re tougher than me.
You’re moving again…did I miss something?
Yes.
Well, I’m guessing it might not be good. I hope you’re doing okay, Oz.
He’s taking things pretty well or in denial. Possibly both.
Probably both. Thanks, Brian. Ozzwife and I are splitting up.
I’m sorry to hear that. I hope things go as smoothly as they can.
Thanks. The upside is that I’ll probably move back to the Bay Area after the semester.
Bastard.
My parents were married for 6 1/2 years before I was born, thank you very much.
That makes sense. I know South Carolina wasn’t your dream spot. It seems like you have a year of a lot of change coming your way. I know we’ll all be rooting for you.
Thank you. I just keep telling myself this is for the best. Getting out of SC will definitely be nice.
Living some place you don’t enjoy is never a good thing…it just adds stress to your life.
I’ve also been thinking seriously about Arkansas. I hear it’s pretty, but the people are all assholes.
It’s the Natural State…and by that I mean we’re all naturally assholes here.
Well, naturally.
Where is the Au Naturale State? That’s where I need to move.
Bliss.
In my pants.
Is that an invitation?
Maybe.
I’m on my way.
I have the next two weeks off from clinical. Start hydrating.
Ooh! A chance to catch up on homework!
And no one wears deodorant.
Seeing Brandon McCarthy looking pretty much himself again is great.
Looks like a tiny crowd for a team starting their final homestand while trying to lock up a playoff spot.
the weather is nasty
Yep, very disappointing.
Fkers. They don’t know what they are missing. I’d be out there fanning it the fk up.
Same.
I would be too if I weren’t mildly agoraphobic.
There aren’t that many spiders living in the Coliseum seats.
Snerk.
I’d be there too but the commute is a bitch.
I’d be there but I’m not.
That’s deep.
Mildly?
I go out. Just not… often. And much prefer the comforts of home.
Oh, me too. It takes one to know one :)
Heights and spiders…those are my two phobias…I’m trying to work on the heights..with spiders I just run away like a little girl.
Sic your cat on the spiders. I don’t fear them, but I do tend to bring them to the cats’ attention.
Hmm…I like this idea. We don’t seem to have too many spiders here at my house which is good. My condo in Little Rock had them pretty bad on the porch area…used to freak me out.
Same. People look at me funny when I go out. Plus, I have to wear pants in public.
They look funny at me while they run over me as if they didn’t even know I was there.
Aw.
People mostly applaud when they see me out in public.
They’re just happy you wore pants.
It’s a good reason to be happy.
Well, you don’t have to.
Yeah, I do. Ain’t no want to see this shit.
I can think of at least 2 people who would disagree with that statement.
Crazy people.
That doesn’t make them wrong.
They should probably be institutionalized.
I would LOVE to live in a padded room!
Does that mean you want to see me naked?
Huh. When I asked the Magic 8 Ball if I wanted to see Jennifer naked, it says “Yes.” When I asked the Magic 8 Ball if I’d like it, it says “No way!” I shit you not.
Great. Thanks.
Probably. What’s your point?
The Coliseum is home. And has comforts.
I’d totally be out there if I could. They’re gonna be sorry they missed this.
10,001?
Gotta be a good deal more than that, but I don’t think they’re even half full.
Should have done fireworks.
Well, that’s too bad. You have to enjoy pennant races when they happen so the fans are missing out.
So then about 4x better than normal.
Definitely looks shitty for a friday night crowd.
Damn. It looks like there may actually less than 10k actually there.
Less than 10K…that’s not much money, fuckers are broke.
I believe you mean 10,001 in attendance.
There were a number of totally full sections, but it was kinda weird where they were. In person, didn’t look too bad a crowd, considering some recent ones.
I’m guessin 16.5K.
Paid or there?
Announced.
I could buy that.
Head count, or in pounds?
COCOCOCOCOCO!
Cocooooooooo!!!
FK YES
Coco Crisp: leadoff homer. Welcome back.
My fantasy team could have used that a week and a half ago. Pillow-farting FKer
Blaming the victim, I see.
Please tell me more about your fantasy team…(pulls up seat)
Wait… so you look like Gene Wilder? I always pictured you looking more like Gene Simmons, but with a beard.
Hmm….well, I have Gene Hackman’s hairline and about 1/10th of his acting talent.
Which is still about 40 billion times more than David Caruso.
I think I watched about 20 minutes of the first episode of CSI: Miami…that was enough. NYPD Blue got better when Jimmy Smits replaced him.
Weird, because Dexter got worse when Jimmy Smits was on there. Not bad, just not as good.
I agree…that wasn’t a great arc on Dexter…I prefer Smits as the good guy…he was great on Blue.
The season with Trinity was good.
Yeah, I liked that one a lot. It helps that John Lithgow is a terrific actor.
That’s the last season I watched. I have the season after that purchased but I haven’t had time to watch it. Now I don’t have time or a television.
I’m one season ahead of you, then.
Great actor….also bald which makes him dead sexy.
Not totally bald.
Lithgow has about as much hair as I do…I just keep mine shorter.
I was playing with my 2.5 year old god daughter the other day, and she suddenly stopped, gave me a very perplexed look, and asked “Where’s your hair?”
Did you reach up top and pat around and feign freak out wondering where the fuck it went?
Damn, where are you when I need you?
One time I wore my bathrobe to work for fun over my clothes. Some dumb bitch asked me if I knew I was wearing my robe. I then looked down and did the fake freak out.
I “freak out” when people look at me and say “You shaved!”
Never watched NYPD Blue. I thought it was a strange concept for a Silver Spoon spinoff.
Yeah…Ricky was only on for a couple of seasons and then they replaced him with the kid from…oh what was that show with the girl who did Showgirls?
Saved By The Bell?
Yep…I never really watched that show but the blonde kid on it was on the last few years of Blue and he was solid.
I never watched it either, but I hear Kyli loves it.
The boy band of TV shows.
That explains her love.
I think it was bigger with kids a couple of years younger than I was.
It was the crowning achievement of early 90s television.
I think you mean the flawless Mark-Paul Gosselaar.
i liked ricky’s character on NYPD.
Nobody cares about your fantasy team.
EVEN IN THE PLAYOFFS?!?
In the playoffs, I’d prefer to care about my reality team.
The only thing I care about is nevermoor’s fantasy team’s playoff chances.
That’s because his league is entirely VORP-based.
Yep…it’s right up my alley…almost as much as that Phil Collins erotica site.
But is it a VORP-AL league?
WELL DO I HAVE A STORY FOR YOU…
Oh….(goes and pulls his seat up again)
I love lead off home runs.
pfft…they’re rally killers!
and I cannot lie.
The Schlong made me laugh in that last AB. He was swinging at some weird ass shit and hitting some ugly looking fouls.
id rather play tx in the playoffs than the LAAA
I’d rather play the Stockton Ports.
Yep. Weaver is basically two auto wins against the A’s.
They’d likely have to burn Weaver for game 162. So there’s that.
Okay, maybe it really is closer to barely reaching five figures:
newballpark bias… they only want you to count half the field!
Heh.
A lot of people arrived between the 3rd and 5th innings.
Traffic was MADNESS from the northern side of the maze.
Yup. 1 hour 35 minutes from the Mission to sitting down in the West Side Club.
it’s sometimes hard to read and you overreact and get off the freeway because it looks terrible but later look across and find out that it was just a massive sight-of-break-lights-induced slowdown that dissipates after the next overpass hill, but the view of 880 from just before the jackson street exit can be your friend. when it’s really bad it’s obvious, and you can bail at jackson, cross under freeway, left on 7th st., becomes 8th st., becomes 12th st., becomes san leandro, turn at 50th, turn at coliseum way, WHAM.
What the fuck
That was bizarre. Didn’t look that hard hit.
That did not help (or hurt) my fantasy team in any way.
Agreed. It’s actually cold here, yet the ball carried. I thought it was routine.
coco jumped too early
He also didn’t hang on the wall to get a better reach.
Hangin w Ms and Mr Poppy in 215. We can totally crush this M’s pitcher.
My wife is watching Glee on the DVR…I still love her though.
I’m going to go out on a limb and say the whitest place you can be in 2012 is a Mumford & Sons concert.
Nickelback
Strangely enough, a Klan meeting barely made #5 on the list.
Or a Romney/Ryan rally.
See above: #5 on the list. Just barely.
It just edged out the Volkswagen dealership.
I mainly go to those to watch Ryan flex.
I thought it was to make people in AR think you were a Republican, so they won’t kill you.
Nah…we still have some Dems left here but there are less and less of us that’s for sure. Of course an Arkanas Dem is like a California Republican in a lot of ways.
I’m guessing an Arkansas Dem is someone who thinks Catholics should have the same legal standing as Baptists.
Probably….there are traditional liberals here but none of them hold office that I know of. I’m a moderate myself so I mostly fit in….although this has to be one of the worst states for gay rights which bothers me.
It’s time is coming, though. Maybe not fast enough, but it’s inevitable.
It’ll be awhile for it to happen here.
If it helps make people more comfortable, I’ll come there and make out with you in public.
Sounds like a plan. The upside is the sight of this will likely kill many of the more conservative voters.
Along with a piece of my soul, but it’s a risk worth taking. I mean, no offense, but you’re no elcroata.
Well, who is?
No one. Not even elcroata.
No ray and glenn they don’t have the best food in the league at the coli
Yeah, that really didn’t look very good.
Ha!…not even close, really. In fact they have perhaps some of the worst.
Agreed.
A lie made all the more obvious by the fact that a large percentage of the people watching will have eaten at AT&T park at least once.
In the league, not in MLB.
Ah.
They actually said that? Wow.
The two high school kids next to me might disagree. They came back to their seats with two Saags sausages each and all of that was gone within 4 batters. It was most impressive.
I mean Ive eaten 9 coli dogs on dollar dog day… Doesn’t mean it was a pleasant experience or the food was good.
And WTF do high school kids know about good food? They’ll eat anything.
I expect ~5 runs everytime Pennington leads off with a hit.
Funny, I expect the end of the world.
Yep.
Guys, guys, you’re both right!
One of the most important stats missing from that graphic: Number of first pitch taken strike vs. balls.
I thought the food at the ballpark in Dallas wasn’t much but then I hate that park so maybe I’m projecting a bit.
I just realized that the light bulbs we put in when this house was built might outlive me.
DREW!!!
Your feed is WAY ahead of mine.
Well, it’s a lot closer to the Coliseum then yours?
DROOOOOOOOOOO
Ball is flying tonight and we’re crushing Beaven and Butthead.
I either misunderstood the graphic or am missing something obvious, but what happens to the .2% of first pitches that are neither taken nor swung at? HBP don’t count for either?
Sac bunted?
Wouldn’t bunt attempts be considered swung at?
Hm yeah, you’re probably right.
I’m also trying to figure out how we can be 4th in one and 2nd in the other.
Rounding errors?
Okay, I just finished Elementary…it’s good enough for me to give it a couple more episodes…not sure about Lucy Lui as Watson though. She’s very pretty and I’ve liked her in other things but the Watson character is so important in Holmes stories and so far she doesn’t add much…I also don’t like how they changed her backstory from Watson being a vet.
uh…I mean I’m watching the A’s game….uh…Best wishes and GO A’s!
hahahahah
I thought it was decent. Plus Jonny Lee Miller.
I’ll give you an update on Homeland soon. When I called DirectTV to inquire about HBO they gave me 6 months of free Showtime and there’s a Homeland marathon starting today.
Huh. Reddick’s got the mouth guard back. And making better cuts. I’m think more than a coincidence. I suspect having that in helps relax the jaw and the body as a result making him less tense at the plate.
Maybe he should try holding his knob.
Koji Uehara is such an excellent reliever, I’m not sure why Wash uses him in garbage time.
Because he’s horrible at managing a bullpen?
and he was horrible in the playoffs last year. wasnt he lrft off the ws roster?
The worst part about reading about the Phil Collins’ erotica site in the Grill is now mine will always be the second one that was created.
It’s first in our hearts (and crotches), though.
Your Mike Rutherford site will be a true original though.
Oh yeah….mike+themechanics+whips&chains.com
Now with dungeon master Paul Carrack!
How long has this been going on?
Okay, that was the perfect response….2 GOLD STARS, for Kay.
Outside.
Does this mean I have to put my pants back on?
No. I’m in the country right now. No one is around to hear you scream.
That was both disturbing and arousing at the same time.
Scarousing.
Yes, this.
My job is done.
Or just beginning.
It’s Broncos weekend….I’ve enjoyed watching Manning over the years and I think he and Brady are two of the 6-7 best QB’s of all time but he must go down and he must go down hard.
Meanwhile, the 49ers get to take a few shots at the guy he replaced.
I sure wish Tebow had signed a 15 year deal to stay with the Broncos. I don’t think the Raiders will win but I also don’t think the Broncos are all that good.
I didn’t think the Redskins or Vikings were all that good either.
The Vikings are pesky…the skins have maybe the worst defense in football.
Worse than the Saints? Wow.
When Orakpo and Carriker went down for Washington that killed them.
Oh, and keep it going Saints…0-16 would be fucking hilarious.
Brady also must go down hard on Sunday.
Don’t let Witch hear you say that.
The Bills spent a lot of money on their D-line so maybe he will.
The crowd choice of song mid-5th is The Finsl Countdown.
Oh, come on!
16,376 = a bit less than half full.
FSU is good.
What are you talking about, he was like 124 off!!
And he was over, so he’s out of the running for the showcase showdown.
I finally heard the call me maybe song start to finish today in the car….it’s an earworm song that’s for sure.
Set your brain on fire. It’s the only way.
It got in there for about an hour but then it left with the air that goes out my ears.
I wish it were that easy for me.
I have I will wait stuck in my head right now but that’s fine…I really dig that song.
This is a guy Moss should crush.
Damn you Wedge.
Get clear, Wedge! You can’t do any more good back there!
Fosse’s going to go hunt down the official scorer again.
Distract him with Dibs.
Olivo woulda had that.
Bed time for Ozzo. Good night, foilks!
Bye, Oz…you’re the best.
Sticks and stones may break my bones…so…you know what, I’m over here with broken bones so say whatever you like I’ve probably passed out from the pain anyway so I can’t hear you.
AJ Griffin everyone!
I’ve got the off-season lounge posts all planned out…my plan is to try something different and just post, random odd stuff mostly about myself.
It’s really hazy in here. Strange weather; marine fog battling w high pressure. Greyer by the moment.
How’s it look on the 7 day forecast?
It’s supposed to get warm for about 5 days starting tomorrow. And by warm, I mean low to mid 80s.
I need something to put me off to sleep…I sure wish Hatteberg was doing the color on the game tonight.
Oh boy…Bridget the Midget has entered a mud wrestiling tournament and she needs me to be her manager so I’m off.
let’s bring you up to date:
purple EM in the stands!
these games on the ovaloidical are going to leave me a skinny brown bear.
am i wrong to worry about the aluminum foil shards they leave in my torta when they cut it in half?
A’s RULE!
(mariner home runs drool.)
Coco Crisp everyone!
i wanna know the WAR on his pinkeyes. no seriously, of all those 1-run games the A’s just got shorted on, how many does he affect the right way if he’s in?
ok, the broadcasters seem to really support the second wild card. How does everyone else feel about it?
let’s put it this way, i’m sure glad they instated it this year.
I’m in favor of it and have been from the beginning. I like that it makes waiting the division much more important.
I like the fact that it makes the winning the division more important.
Other than that I think it’s obnoxious, especially coming after the glorious 2011 situation.
Time to flush the Seamen.
Flush accomplished!
Wow, Ackley had plenty of time to make that play.
Woo, A’s! And:
The awesome…it envelops me like moist grey love.
well-worked inning.
You know, whatever else happens this season, we’ve gotten to watch a legitimately good baseball team. They beat up on the bad teams and can hang with the good teams.
Uh, Jerry. You have a 6 run lead, start pitching like it.
Jerry’s 6th appearance in 9 games. Jeez, Bob.
SEXY PANTS!!!
Oh, that outfield is good.
Held my breath on that one.
No wrist sprain. No wrist sprain. No wrist sprain. No wrist sprain. No wrist sprain. No wrist sprain. No wrist sprain. No wrist sprain. No wrist sprain.
Ok, so Ive heard ths one before. Other than “hes an idiot”, why does Vince hate the cycle?
I hate Miller time.
Miller Low Life.
Miller Genuine Dreck.
Up 8-2, I can live with it.
Yay!
Someone had to say it.
Somehow, the playoff percentage, as estimated by ESPN has the A’s at
77.7%,87.3 an approximate2.5% decline10% increase from yesterday?!Maybe updated with the earlier Angels/Orioles/Yankees wins but not the A’s yet.
That too.
Was yesterday before or after the loss?
They can take over an hour or more to update those numbers.
Indeed–see edit!
3 behind TEX for the division, 1 behind BAL for WC1, 2 ahead of LAA for WC2, 3 ahead of TB for WC2, 5 games left.
Shaping up to be the greatest AL pennant race since 1967.
Well… since 2011 anyway.
last year was b-a-n-a-n-a-s
Last year wasn’t a pennant race; It was a fluke Tampa comeback that made the last couple of days interesting.
I mean, two of the most improbable playoff teams in the history of baseball, in the same year.
All three divisions still up for grabs, four teams also vying for the wild card. It’s pretty fucking exciting.
Plus nobody has clinched so much as a wild card spot yet.
7 teams in honest contention, no playoff spots certian, 5 games left
The scenario where we and the Angels both win out, and the Angels and Texas have to play off to decide who travels for a wild card game in the Bronx is keeping me warm at night.
that would be glorious
this.
I worry about playing the Tigers in that scenario, but yeah.
No, we also pass the Orioles for best record. We get the survivor of the LAA/TEX/NYY bloodbath, in which all of Weaver, Greinke, Sabathia, Pettite, Haren, Dempster, Holland, and Darvish get used.
Here’s the funny thing.
I hate the team’s owners.
This, from top to bottom. The 2012 A’s? Looking good in the pennant chase at the end of September? So crazy you just gotta get on board.
Just get us in.
It may be a crapshoot, but this year WE have the loaded dice.
yupp sums me up exactly
Pretty much agree, although I’m uncomfortable calling it an “accident” that the team is this good. It’s lucky, for sure, but it’s the kind of luck where a whole bunch of well intended talent-acquisition decisions over the course of several years all pay off at once. It balances out last year where a whole bunch of decisions went bust all at once.
nice win, bitches.
Thanks, and go As.
Except Kyli. I’d never call her that. ♥
Thanks, and go As.
I approve.
I “met” Kyli in the parking lot as she arrived after apparently being stuck in traffic and getting there much later than she expected. When I saw what mode she was in I just got the heck out of the way and continued to enjoy my beer.
Sorry about that. I get a little… uh… road-ragey. Especially when the tent sale is involved.
Who doesn’t?
I get a little more viscerally and vocally road-ragey than most. Well, other than my sister.
Being inside the Coliseum is my valium and so I kind of rage-run through the parking lot to security and will destroy anything in my path.
Yeah, I get stuck behind idiots everywhere I go. Trust me, I know what you’re talking about there.
There are a lot of tremendous things about the East Bay but urban stress is a huge reason why I’m here this weekend as a former resident.
I’m in the North Bay. Lots of shitty on and off ramps that people take at 35 MPH and leisurely get up to 55 instead of 65.
i love the people who are thinking of using an upcoming offramp and slow down while on the freeway with traffic behind them.
With five teams making the playoffs, you would think 90 wins would be enough.
You would be wrong.
At the beginning of September I was expecting the division would take about 95 wins and the WC would take about 92 – 94 wins. In general, 90 wins should get you in, but it seemed clear that 90 this season wouldn’t do it.
That’s because the stupid National League gave it up to everyone in interleague.
Yeah, that national league. What a bunch of sluts.
We get the fucking Giants while the fucking Rangers got the Astros and the Angels got the Dodgers. Fair. Yeah. We’d be in first if not for that.
At least as of last week, the A’s literally had the best American League record; only interleague results dropped us below the others.
Yup. While having an overall harder schedule all things considered.
They had some Crosby shirseys, some Suzuki, some Travis Buck, AND ALSO SOME YANKEE AND RED SOX HATS WHAT THE FUCKING FK.
Also, there was no sign of a Ryan Langerhans home jersey :(
Thanks, and go As.
I’m surprised they weren’t trying to give the Crosby shirseys away.
Also — BEN SHEETS shirseys.
And ‘love Street’/’love Crosby’ hats. With pink lettering. And rhinestones.
So on the off chance we have to play a game 163 it’s going to be Straily pitching.
vince said that the line drive that hit mccarthys head was “courtesy” of aybar
Brandon McCarthy favorited a tweet of mine.
I CAN DIE HAPPY NOW.
:)
i like how the took care of business, but they need to do it again tomorrow
So. Who here drives a Volvo?
my wife has a ’65 and a ’67. is that helpful?
CAN WE GHOSTRIDE THEM IF WE CLINCH?
i guess permission-wise yes, the old one, but mechanically speaking no, because both are manual. (you have to actively press the gas for forward motion in those old-fangled motorvehicular devices.)
Or get a hill!
Get it rolling and throw it into neutral.
i don’t know what it is about the controlled speed of ghostriding an automatic that seems much safer than these ideas.
Fair.
dude that is awesome those were great years
Casper
I saw it, too.
you were on TV all in purple looking at your phone. much more flattering image than when they showed moss trying to scratch the back of his neck through his nostril.
Oh dear, how very Giants-fan of me. It was actually a pink jersey and gray hoodie over a dark red blouse, but I can see that would come out as purple.
what about the coya hat? that was purple right? or does that TV deserve a whack upside the tint?
It’s pink and grayish-brown.
tv error but i still like it.
I also saw that, except I first read it as “PLAYERS support Prop 30” (instead of PLANNERS), and I thought having the players officially get behind a political issue was really weird.
I thought it did say Players.
